It is a low level melee unit though so they tend not to last very long. Hyaenas: Probably the highest damage unit in the game because of a skill that guarantees a critical hit with only a 1 turn cooldown. Has short range but can easily take out enemy units before they even move. Thorn Hunters: A cheap ranged unit that is readily available and does massive damage.

For this reason low level units particularly ranged units remain useful throughout the game.Įvery type of unit has its strengths but here are some of my favourite early game units:
KINGS BOUNTY THE LEGEND FULL
Spells which summon creatures are very useful because summoned creatures can act as meat shields for your troops.Ī full stack of low level units tends to do more damage than a full stack of high level units but has a lot less survivability. Royal snakes don't suffer from retaliation which is great. Reduce the enemy numbers with ranged strikes before engaging them in melee. Similarly enemy ranged units are very dangerous - try to take them out early with spells, rage powers and your own ranged units.īe careful of retaliation when engaging in melee combat. Ranged units are very useful because you can destroy melee troops before they can close with your army. If you run out of a troop then restock with whatever is locally available - all the troops in this game have their own strengths and playing around with them is part of the fun. Pick easy battles whenever possible but accept that you will lose units if you fight tougher opponents. Ignore those folks who advise aiming for zero losses because that makes for a very cautious boring game. Yes you should try to minimise your losses to avoid those long trips back to restock but I would not get paranoid about it. Pick enemies who are weak or very weak where-ever possible to ensure a win with minimal losses. Most important thing is to pick your battles.

I played a quite a bit of KB the legend recently so I can share some of my experiences: Tl dr: any starting tips? mainly about character building, which skills to go for, which are useless, what spells to learn, etc. I also hear spells are randomly distributed among merchants. it might be more difficult than that later on, I'm not sure. they have less leadership, so less units, but my second playthrough of the demo seemed pretty sweet with a mage: I opened each battle with a fire spell and cleaned up after that. I'm gonna play on easy because I'd like to finish the game this year, and I'm gonna play a mage. or maybe it's just limited because mana crystals are limited, not sure. also, you can't recruit units infinitely, 'shops' run out of them eventually (and there's a huge amount of backtracking to resupply them, which doesn't sound very good).Īnd I think you can't learn every spell, not only because they need certain mage skills and mana crystals to learn and they're also finite, but - correct me if I'm wrong - the spellbook's capacity is also limited. What I know is that there's no respawn (which is awesome, hate respawn) but it also means that xp and gold are limited. and since the game's part of steam's weeklong deals anyway, others might benefit from this thread also (tried searching for similar topics here without luck, though I'm planning to skim the steam forums for any useful advice and there's gamefaqs and the before I play wiki). Since it's a pretty complex game (though very easy to get into), I was wondering if there's anything worth knowing beforehand, what to do, what to avoid, etc. Ok, so years after trying and loving the demo, I've finally decided it's time to play legend because the 4th game in the series, dark side, is about to come out and even if I complete a title every year, I still won't ever catch up.
